Gear4 has recently launched an intriguing device. If you weren’t sure about the Pure Highway, which provides DAB radio and ipod / mp3 music via an FM transmitter, the BluFM provides ipod music via a built in FM transmitter, but also acts as a Bluetooth Headset for your mobile phone, which will nicely interrupt your playing music when you get an incoming call.
More details and pricing in the rest of the article.
The BluFM has a DSP (Digital Signal Processor), which helps cut down unwanted background noise, offers full duplex operation, and has a LED conversation indicator. THe ipod / mp3 music player support is via a 3.5mm socket.
The unit supports A2DP (Bluetooth music streaming), which will be another method of playing music - use your A2DP compatible mobile phone’s music player and the BlueFM will happily transmit the music and any calls to your car stereo.
It should be pointed out that the device itself has no speaker.
On sale for around £49.99, this may be a nice stocking filler for those not into DAB radios.
